HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a Unit of Competency that provides the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This CPR update course is the most recent version of what is often referred to as the CPR Update or CPR Refresher. This Unit replaces the previous course codes HLTCPR201A, HLTCPR201B and most recently HLTCPR211A.

This course includes defibrillation (AED) training, there is no longer a stand-alone defib course.  So if you require AED training this is the course you should complete.

Participants assessed as being competent in all assessments will receive:
  • A digital Statement of Attainment in HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (until Oct 2021) & HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Your statement (certificate) will be emailed upon successful completion after 7pm the same day, or next business day if the class runs on a weekend


Learners should have completed first aid training in the past to be able to book into this REFRESHER course.

Participants are required to have a minimum level of Literacy & Numeracy to be allowed admittance to this course. Further information is provided in the student handbook on our Learners page.

Please let us know if you have any medical conditions or specials needs that may prevent you from getting on the floor.  It is a requirement that CPR be performed for at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

  • 3 hour practical class.  Allow 3.25 hours
  • There are no theory requirements for this course and no tests on the day

There are no assessment requirements for this course, which is a non-qualification course.

This course is delivered in a test-free, assessment-free environment, teaching CPR & first aid basics.
